Technopark

    

The West Caspian University Technopark was established at the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year. The main objective of the establishmentof the Technopark is to carry out, commercialize and contribute to society the scientific and experimental work of the academic and student staff of the university. Technopark has been a positive factor for the development and update of the university's research agenda in areas regarding requirements of firms on science and technology. The interaction between the Technopark and the university provided a positive impact on the ability to innovate.

Starting the day of its activity, seminars and trainings were held to promote the concept of initiative among students, to support realizing of students' social, business and educational ideas. Technopark also provides technical and organizational support to many competitions. For example, the organization supported the ``Game Jam'' hackathon competition, which was held for the first time in Azerbaijan, and as a part of the competition, students were trained in 3D Game development.

Our infrastructure

The extensive infrastructure of the Technopark allows any academic activity to be carried out here.. In this regard, the university allocated 5 rooms in the educational building of the University located in Narimanov, 2 rooms in the educational building of the School of High Technologies and Innovative Engineering, 2 production areas (together with offices) of 288 square meters each in Balakhani Industrial Park of the A.R. Ministry of Economy, production area of 4 hectares located on the Baku-Sumgayit highway of the University, where students and academic staff can work and stay together, a 150 sq meters business incubator center and 600 sq meters mechatronics, robotics, mechanics laboratory rooms in the newly commissioned educational building in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Our achievements

The "DEC" team, consisting of graduates of our university, won the "Socially Oriented Technologies" competition at the "TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan-2023" aerospace and technology festival.

The team members received the award from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Nobel laureate Professor Aziz Sanjar.

Notably, the team of the Western Caspian University also participated in "Technofest-2023" held in Istanbul.

In December 2022, the team of the Western Caspian University won the "Product Owner's Marathon".

In "STEAM Azerbaijan Festival 2022", two teams of our university ranked the 1st place, one team was on the 2nd place, and while on team of the Western University School won the 1st place.

In February 2019, the XSERON AI module developed at the Technopark of the Western Caspian University was awarded the second place in the engineering category at the III Republican Contest "Scientists of Tomorrow" .

The Redbot project presented by the students of the Western Caspian University was awarded the 3rd place at StartupFest 2019. The concept of Redbot means facilitating the parking of cars in the city, programming the process.

On December 26, 2017, Western Caspian University Start-up Project was awarded first place in a competition organised by the Ministry of Education.

On April 26, 2018, school student Gunel Huseynova, who was the author of the idea of the Parkingapp project developed in the Western Caspian University Technopark, was awarded by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs. Notably, the idea of the Parkingapp project envisages that with the help of this system, drivers will find an available space for their car at the location, and save time and fuel consumption by paying online.

On May 21, 2018, the "Stem Plus" knowledge Olympiad was held among schoolchildren under the organization of the Western Caspian University.

On January 15, 2018, the Game Jam hackathon contest was held with the organizational support of the Western Caspian University. Within the framework of the competition, students were trained in 3D Game development.

On December 9, 2018, the Hack- o- Holics team, consisting of students from Western Caspian University and Baku Higher Oil School, won the LEGO Mindstroms EV3 in robotics at Local Hack Day, which is an internationally known contest in the fields of robotics and programming. The main requirement of the competition was to correctly program lego and he main requirement of the game was to programme the Lego and to check its ability to overcome obstacles.

The University’s ‘Vooby’ start-up project was awarded a respectable place in the ‘İcatmakinesi’ competition held in the Republic of Turkey on May 11th, 2018.

Western Caspian University students performed successfully in the second General Republic Youth Scientific Creativity competition, ‘There is an idea’, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on December 28th, 2018.

 

Ramil Maliyev’s ‘Clever Way’, Nihal Yusifova’s ‘English Nanny’ and Azer Nemanli’s ‘Vooby’ projects were selected among the best 25 works. The ‘Tribo-SR1’ project prepared in our Technopark by High Technologies and Innovative Engineering School student Jabrail Shahbazov and Republic Olympics Sports Lycee pupil Murad Eyvazzade were recognised as the most innovative projects and awarded first place. The project received recognition for its production technologies and industrial infrastructure related to living and transportation systems.

WCU student, Nijat Safarov and WCU high school pupil, Edel Tarzumov, demonstrated their ‘Ecomister Fish’ project on February 14th, 2019. The ‘Ecomister Fish’ project provides operative information about the ecological condition of water sources. The body of the model was made using a 3D printer. This artificial fish can monitor water sources conveniently for specifically given coordinates and transmit that information through video.

On February 28, a conference on ``Supporting startup projects and expanding access to financial resources'' was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy.

C. Shahbazov and M. Eyvazzade’s ‘Xeron’ module is a 6-wheeled radio-wave controlled glove which can be run from up to 1000 meters and can turn at any angle. It has different sensors in it including flame, temperature, moisture and gas flow sensors. All operations are controlled by artificial intelligence.

Nemanli’s ‘Vooby’ project intends to provide people with mutual online language learning opportunity for learning any language without payment.

 

On April 13, 2019, the Lego Robotics Olympiad was held among students of Western Caspian University.

 

WCU students Nijat Safarov and Jabrail Shahbazov demonstrated their ‘Ecomaster Fish’ project in the ‘100 Ideas for Independent States Association’ international youth project’s final stage during Independent States Association’s youth council meeting held in Baku on November 17th, 2019. The project aroused the interest of exposition visitors.

WCU’s ‘Caspian Space’ team passed the final stage successfully in the Cansat 2019 competition held by Azerkosmos and The Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.
